Lu 19: 7 And when they saw it, they all murmured,
saying, That he was gone to be guest with a man that is a sinner.
And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son of Abraham.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
In this vital passage, Jesus reveals his purpose for coming to this earth. He came to
seek and to save that which was lost. This powerful statement comes at the house of Zacchaeus who was a tax collector. He
was not accepted by the society people. He was not accepted by the religious community. However, there was one who not only
accepted him but went out of his way to embrace him. Jesus Christ is fulfilling his purpose by dealing with a sinner with
love and acceptance.
Lu 5:32 I came not to call the righteous, but
sinners to repentance.
Mt 9:13 But go ye and learn what that meaneth,
I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Mr 2:17 When
Jesus heard it, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not
to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
Today we must define
our purpose. Why did God put you here? If you are to be like Christ, you must have the same purpose as Christ.
